The house lights drop in a TOHO Cinemas auditorium in Tokyo, and before the first frame of Godzilla Minus Zero hits the screen, the little monster in your palm starts to glow. It's five centimeters long, it came free with your ticket, and Toho has made two million of them for the whole country. In the United States, the same week, the Godzilla people are talking about is a 19.5-inch popcorn bucket that sold out online at close to $100.
As of November 4, 2026, this is where things stand. Japan opened the film on November 3 with a free glow-in-the-dark figure for every viewer and a sculpted popcorn box at TOHO Cinemas. The US and Canada got Godzilla Day IMAX Early Access on November 3 and open wide on November 6, with the giant bucket at Regal, Cinemark and AMC. The UK also opens November 6, and Cineworld started selling its Mega Godzilla bucket on November 3. Brazil opens November 5 with the bucket revealed by its distributor. Our verdict comes first, because it isn't close: Japan got the best deal.
Japan: A Glowing Godzilla in Every Hand, and a Monster Box for Collectors
Japan's moviegoers expect an nyujo tokuten, a free gift handed over at the auditorium door, and Toho went big. According to Eiga.com, the "Glowing! Godzilla (2026) Mini Figure" is a palm-sized sculpt of this film's Godzilla in red, blue or clear plastic, handed out at random, one per person per viewing, capped at 2 million nationwide. In the dark the whole body lights up, starting with the jagged dorsal fins Toho calls the symbol of this Godzilla.
Toho's pitch, as Eiga.com relayed it, is nostalgia: plenty of fans remember the thrill of being handed a Godzilla figure at the movies, and this one is a thank-you to them and to kids meeting the monster for the first time. Do the math on the crowds, though. Cinema Today reports the film drew more than 590,000 people on opening day alone and grossed ¥910 million, a record for any live-action film in Japan according to box-office tracker Kogyo Tsushinsha. At that pace, two million figures won't sit in the stockroom long.
For the shelf, there's the big one. Cinema Today reports TOHO Cinemas is selling a popcorn box from The Prime Collection, a premium line of theater goods, for ¥17,800 with a large popcorn, plus a ¥4,800 drink cup that comes with a drink. The box stands about 50 centimeters, its back opens for the popcorn, and it's on sale at 71 TOHO Cinemas locations from Sapporo to Kumamoto, including Shinjuku, Hibiya and Roppongi Hills. Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas has posted its own sale notice too.

If you're in Tokyo this month, make an evening of it. TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku sits in the building with the giant Godzilla head on the roof, and TOHO Cinemas Hibiya is a short walk from the Godzilla statue in Hibiya's Godzilla Square. Both are on the box's sale list.
The US and Canada: The Bucket That Made Its Director Laugh
According to Toho's own Godzilla.com, the North American lineup arrived October 7 at nearly 3,000 participating theaters, while supplies last. The centerpiece is a full-figure Godzilla you fill through his back; around it sit a Heat Ray Cup, a Swimming Godzilla bucket, a 3D Aqua Cup, a 230-ounce tin, a cup and a tub. Regal's online store lists the big one at 85 ounces and 55 x 40 x 50 centimeters.
The story worth retelling comes from the man who made the movie. In a video Toho posted on October 14, Takashi Yamazaki meets the bucket and, as Eiga.com reported, keeps repeating "awesome, awesome," notes that it really reproduces this film's Godzilla, and predicts theatergoers will be stunned to hear it holds popcorn. His verdict (our translation): it's exactly right, "but the people who made this are out of their minds." On his own X account he added that when he was asked to look at a popcorn bucket sample, he honestly couldn't tell what he was looking at.
Where to buy it depends on the chain:
- Regal: the Godzilla Popcorn Container with a large popcorn, plus a Collectible Combo pairing the Swimming Godzilla bucket and 3D Aqua Cup, according to Fantasy Land News. Its online listing, $98.99, showed sold out when we checked.
- Cinemark: the 3D bucket with an XL popcorn, the Heat Ray Drink Bottle and a tin, each with a free same-day refill at select theaters, per Fantasy Land News.
- AMC: carries the full-figure bucket, Attractions Magazine reports.
- Marcus: its online shop listed the bucket at $99.99, now sold out.
- Fandango: a $100 bundle with one ticket and no popcorn sold out about a day after pre-orders opened, Attractions Magazine reports.
Fantasy Land News points out a fun technicality. The Guinness World Records popcorn-container title still belongs to the Galactus bucket from The Fantastic Four: First Steps, because the record counts capacity: Galactus holds 361 ounces and Godzilla holds 85. Godzilla is simply taller and longer.
The UK: The Same Monster for £69.99, Popcorn Included
Cineworld's page lists the Mega Godzilla Popcorn Bucket at £69.99 with any large popcorn, from November 3 at Cineworld cinemas (Dublin excluded), while stocks last, and only at the specific cinemas it lists. The rest of the range is cheaper: a Cup and Topper for £13.99 with any large drink, a Godzilla Tin for £29.99 with any large popcorn, and a Godzilla Head for £29.99 with any large soft drink. You need a valid Cineworld ticket, and it's one Mega bucket per ticket. Anime Limited, the UK distributor, opens the film across the UK and Ireland on November 6.
Brazil: Revealed by the Distributor, Opening November 5
Sato Company, Toho's distributor in Brazil, showed off the full-figure bucket on its official Instagram in early October, and Brazilian outlets such as Omelete and Tokusatsu.com.br confirmed it is coming to local theaters. The film opens there November 5, after preview screenings on November 3 and 4, with tickets on Ingresso.com. We haven't seen a Brazilian price or a list of participating chains, so ask at the concession stand before you queue.
Why the Little One Matters More
Put the countries side by side and you see two ideas of what a theater exclusive is for. The American and British buckets are trophies: big, sculpted, priced like a collectible, rationed per ticket. Japan sells a trophy too, but it also slips a free Godzilla into everyone's hand, so the person who paid for one ordinary seat walks out with a piece of the movie. That small figure is also the thing a kid will still have in a drawer in twenty years, which is exactly the memory Toho says it's trying to recreate.
How to Get It, Step by Step
- Japan, the free figure: buy a ticket for any screening and pick up your figure as you enter the auditorium. It isn't handed out at the ticket counter or after the film.
- Japan, the popcorn box: from November 4, you can buy it at a TOHO Cinemas on the sale list without a ticket, while stock lasts. On November 2 and 3 a Minus Zero seat ticket for that theater was required.
- US: check your local Regal, Cinemark or AMC concession stand. Online listings at Regal and Marcus show sold out, so the stand is where to look.
- UK: buy a Cineworld ticket, confirm your cinema is on the Mega bucket list, and buy at the counter in one transaction with that ticket.
- Brazil: book on Ingresso.com and ask your cinema whether it stocks the bucket.
Good to Know
- One figure per person per screening in Japan, even if you're holding several tickets. Colors are random, there's no trading inside the theater, and resale is banned.
- No special version for premium screens. Japan's figure is the same in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, MX4D and 4DX, so pick your format for the movie, not the gift.
- Regal's online bucket was limited to three per customer, final sale.
- Cinemark's free refills exclude ICEE drinks.
- Plan the trip home. At 19.5 inches, the bucket will not fit a cupholder, and in Japan you'll be carrying a box the size of a carry-on through the train station.
Back in that dark Tokyo auditorium, the figure keeps glowing in your hand long after the trailers are over. If a single sculpted bucket isn't enough for one week, our guide to the Rocky 50th anniversary run this November has another theater collectible worth the trip. And when you watch, keep your eyes on Godzilla's back: those sharp dorsal fins are the part of the little figure Toho singled out to glow, and they're the studio's own shorthand for this monster.
