Anyone in the U.S. with a ticket can go: Fathom Entertainment brings V for Vendetta back to participating theaters for its 20th anniversary on November 1 and 5, 2026, with an exclusive director featurette before the film. It isn't free. Tickets are on sale now through Fathom's release page or theater box offices, and prices vary.

There is exactly one night of the year when V for Vendetta should be seen with a crowd, and this year it falls on a Thursday. Fathom announced this re-release on November 5, 2025, with a teaser in which V invites audiences to "join him one year from tonight." Tickets went on sale on September 18, 2026. So if you've been mouthing "Remember, remember the fifth of November" at your TV for two decades, you finally get to do it with a room full of strangers.

What You Get

  • The film on a big screen. The 2006 Warner Bros. release directed by James McTeigue, written and produced by the Wachowskis, starring Natalie Portman as Evey and Hugo Weaving as the masked "V," with Stephen Rea and John Hurt. It's based on the DC Vertigo graphic novel by Alan Moore and illustrator David Lloyd.
  • An exclusive featurette, Freedom Forever. It plays before the movie. According to Fathom, McTeigue looks back at the films and art that shaped V for Vendetta, the mythology that grew up around V, and why the story's ideas about freedom, identity and resistance still land twenty years later.
  • Two dates, one of them perfect. The screenings are on November 1 and November 5. The second date is the film's own date, Guy Fawkes Night, the anniversary V spends the whole movie building toward.

Fathom lists the program at 2 hours 17 minutes, which includes the featurette. The film is rated R for strong violence and some language.

Why does it matter in a theater? Think of the Old Bailey sequence early in the film, when Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture booms out over London's loudspeakers and the fireworks start. On a laptop that's a cool scene. In a full auditorium it's an event. For the anniversary trailer, Jonathan Snipes of the experimental hip-hop group clipping. made a new version of that same 1812 Overture moment, which tells you exactly which scene the people behind this re-release think you're coming for.

The grinning mask Weaving hides behind for the whole movie has had a long life off screen. You've seen it at protests, on street stencils and in Halloween aisles. Watching the film again with that history in mind is half the fun: it's a chance to notice how much of the movie Weaving plays with only his voice, his hands and the angle of a porcelain smile.

Who Can Apply

There's no application or lottery. Anyone who buys a ticket gets in, as long as a participating theater near them is showing it. Fathom calls the release nationwide, and it plays in U.S. theaters within Fathom's network. Two things to keep in mind:

  • It's rated R. Check your theater's policy before you bring anyone under 17.
  • Not every theater has it. Fathom's help center explains that not every cinema in its network has the technology for every event, and that locations can be added over time. The ticket announcement also says theater locations may change.

How to Get Tickets (Step by Step)

  1. Go to the official page: fathomentertainment.com/releases/v-for-vendetta (the button on this post takes you there).
  2. Set your location. Use "Change Location" and enter your city or ZIP code to see the participating theaters near you.
  3. Pick a date. Choose November 1 or November 5, then a theater and a showtime.
  4. Check out with the theater. Fathom doesn't sell tickets itself. The sale goes through the theater (its website, app or box office) or a ticketing service like Fandango or Atom Tickets.
  5. Keep your confirmation. Fathom says you can print the confirmation email or just show it on your phone at the theater.

Prefer to pay in person? Fathom says tickets are also sold at participating theater box offices.

Good to Know

  • This is a paid event. Fathom notes that its special events can be priced differently from a regular ticket, and prices vary by theater chain and location. Check the price before you pick your seat.
  • Refunds and exchanges are handled by whoever sold you the ticket, the theater or the ticketing service, not by Fathom.
  • Arrive on time. Freedom Forever plays before the film, so if you walk in during the trailers you might miss the one part of the night you can't stream at home.
  • Pick your night on purpose. November 1 is a Sunday. November 5 is a Thursday, and it's the night the movie is actually about.
  • Want early alerts for future events? Fathom has a free email newsletter you can sign up for on its site.
  • Got the anniversary bug? Fathom's calendar has Rocky's 50th anniversary right after this, November 7–11, if one revolution a week isn't enough for you.

Twenty years on, V for Vendetta still works best the way V himself would want it: loud, in public, with everybody showing up at the same time. Get your ticket before November 5 comes around.
